Michaela was so proud of herself, she had finally achieved her ‘perfect weight’. All her hard work and training had really paid off. For the first time in her life, she felt confident with her image and figure.
With determination and commitment it was easy for Michaela to lose all that weight!
Michaela wasn’t the only one impressed, so was Martyn. The couple decided now that Martyn had been selected as heir they should get onto starting a family as soon as possible – and of course celebrate Michaela’s weight loss and Martyn’s promotion to Rookie!
Michaela and Martyn congratulated each other on their successes.
While on the way to work one afternoon Michaela realised that she was pregnant! A little disappointing that this meant she had to go on maternity leave straight away, but she was so happy to be starting a family and bringing generation five into the family. The whole family was ecstatic. Both parents were hoping for a son.
Michaela was a little nervous about all the baby weight she would gain, but as long as her baby was healthy, it wasn't an issue.
Indie and Michaela were becoming good friends, they were almost always found in the park jamming out for tips and increasing their guitar skills.
They earned quite a lot of money by playing for tips in the park. Sunset valley residents were very generous.
Throughout 99% of Michaela’s pregnancy she could be found playing the guitar. She’d wake up and have breakfast and then go out onto her balcony and play, looking out to the mountains. She found such inspiration there, and she thought it was good for her baby.
Michaela was going to be an expert on her guitar by the time she returned to work!
Martyn and Michaela both got their wish of a son. Madden Freeman was the first born into generation five.
He was a healthy boy, the apple of everyone's eye.
It wasn’t long before Michaela was pregnant again. Martyn was hoping for a girl this time, but Michaela wanted another boy. Of course they were happy either way, as long as they were adding to their perfect family. Indie had just maxed out her painting skill and painted her first masterpiece, achieving the ‘brush master’ challenge in the process.
Just as with previous generations, generation five were going to be close in age.
Madden was different than most other babies born into the legacy family. He was always happy, and so friendly when being looked after, but the second he was left alone the tears just didn’t stop. Luckily there were so many loving family members to take turns looking after him.
Syd cuddled his grandson, wondering what great things he was going to bring to the legacy.
One morning Martyn was jogging in the park when he bumped into his younger brother, Levi. They had a good catch up and went out to dinner together. Martyn was horrified to learn that Levi was in debt, his books hadn’t been grossing enough income for him to live on. Martyn offered him some money, but Levi wasn’t having it, they’d already bought him a beautiful house! In any case, he had just been employed at the city hall and was going to get himself out of debt.
Levi was coping well considering his unfortunate financial status.
Alexis decided to get out of the house and visit her sister. She was pleased to see that now Berlin’s two daughters were teenagers and Berlin’s husband had finally moved in with them! In Alexis’ eyes they all seemed very happy with life.
Berlin had two wonderful daughters, a nice house, and a husband. She was doing well for a legacy spare.
During Michaela’s second pregnancy she spent just as much time on the guitar. She would often serenade Martyn with her original compositions. The two were so much in love.
Needless to say, the maid was not impressed with the soppy song.
Indie only had a few more skill points to get in guitar before she achieved her lifetime dream. She loved her nephew so much, and hoped that one day she would get to hold her own child. She didn’t know how, she was never a social girl, finding skilling so much more suited to her. But one day, she was going to have a child of her own.
Indie cuddled Madden close, and just for a second pretended he was her child.
The family was very close, and so supportive of each others dreams. Syd and Alexis couldn’t wait for Indie to marry, but didn’t know of her deep desires to have a child of her own. She never told them, too embarrassed that she wouldn’t be able to achieve it.
Indie was an exceptional musician, and everyone loved listening to her and Michaela.
The time came for Madden’s birthday. From the very moment it started it was quite obvious that things weren’t going to go well. Alexis picked up her grandson and took him to the cake while her cellphone rung, people gathered in the doorway, and yes – the cake set on fire.
The cake quickly went up in flames and it took a while for the guests and family members to realize exactly what was going on. A wave of panic rushed over the guests and no one knew what to do. As more guests showed up, no one had the initiative to call the emergency services or grab the fire extinguisher.
Nothing was going right on what was supposed to be Madden's special day.
Alexis followed her instincts and got Madden out of the way of the flames. He was generation five, he needed to survive! Everyone did, but he was the most important of course. Madden cried and cried, all alone in the backyard, hearing the panic of his family. The familiar voice of his mum and dad, screaming for their lives.
Madden was all alone, but safe from the fire.
Finally as the birthday table burned down Indie came to her senses and tried to extinguish the flames herself. More people had arrived, but they couldn’t bring themselves to help Indie. They didn’t know how to act in such a horrible situation.
Indie was the only one to brave the flames.
It was then that Indie got caught in the middle of the flames. Her family cried, trying to save her but afraid of catching fire themselves. Meanwhile, Madden was still crying his heart out.
It wasn't long before the whole deck was in flames.
It didn’t take long for Indie to reduce to just a small pile of ashes and the grim reaper to arrive…
All within a matter of seconds, Indie was gone.
The reality of what had just happened kicked in and Syd focused himself on extinguishing the fire, there was no way he could lose another family member.
A wave of adreniline rushed over Syd, he couldn't lose another family member!
It was not Alexis’ day, first her daughter and now her very best friend Courtney Seddan had been licked up by the flames and passed away. The grim reaper was claiming more than one life.
Alexis and Courtney had been friends for a very long time. And although she was getting to the end of her lifespan, this was not the way to go.
Alexis was, as you can imagine, heart-stricken. What had meant to be a simple birthday celebration had turned into the worst day of their lives. The party was filled with sadness and remorse.
It was a tragedy. Alexis broke down into tears.
Once the fire was out Madden’s cries rang throughout the yard. Alexis, Syd, Martyn and Michaela were all too upset to go and pick him up. They listened to him crying for them in a stunned state.
With the sounds of her son crying the stress got to Michaela and she went into labour early.
It was then that a miracle occurred. In her last attempts to regain her life, and have her wish of being a mother, Indie had offered a deal with the grim reaper. She remembered a flower her dad had given her when she was just a small child. She offered it to the grim reaper, hoping with all her heart he would accept it and let her live just a little longer. With relief Indie walked up the steps of the legacy house, perhaps a little dirty and very tired, but still in one piece.
It was a true miracle. Indie had survived.
It brought the family back to their senses. But that wasn’t the only thing that happened in that moment, Michaela went into labour and Alexis and Martyn rushed her off to the hospital, taking Indie with them for a check-up. In all the stress that had just happened, they hoped the new baby (and Indie) would be okay. Syd picked up his grandson and took him inside to feed him and finally age him into a toddler.
Syd was left to take care of Madden.
Madden was the first blonde-haired child born into the family. Syd held him close and took good care of him, ready for his healthy brother to be brought home from the hospital. Syd silently prayed that the disasters of the day would not affect Madden, and at best that he wouldn’t even remember it at all…
The family would go back to normal, thankful for surviving the tragic fire.

Thanks for reading. This all happened on freewill. I completely forgot Indie just happened to have a death flower in her inventory. I had accepted the fact she had gone, and then the pop-up came up to say the grim reaper would use the flower for his vase or something. lol. It was such a dramatic 12 sim hours! I tweeted it to The Sims 3 twitter, and they even retweeted it! haha
